This Strange Tailed Tyrant Collection focuses on the tyrannine flycatcher that inhabits the savannas and wet grasslands in southern Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina. It is an obligate (restricted to a particular function or mode of life) grassland bird that depends exclusively on this habitat for nesting and feeding. The north-east of Argentina is made up of grasslands which are increasingly being managed for livestock, with annual burning. This has had a devastating effect on the grassland bird population.
