The Black Breasted Parrotbil Collection focuses on this small, sedentary bird that likes to skulk and forage in tall, dense grass. The grasslands and wetlands of Assam in Northeastern India, thick and almost impenetrable fortresses of grass and reed, are home to numerous globally-threatened species. Their grassland habitat is becoming increasingly fragmented as it is cleared for agriculture and settlements. Grass burning, performed to make the land more suitable for larger mammals, can also destroy nests and eggs of grassland birds.
